Use this mode to create full-spectrum white light with MIXBOOK or DMG Lighting fixtures in any color temperature from 1700K – 10,000K. The myMIX app provides users with control over the intensity, color temperature and green/magenta levels of their white light. Users can manually enter the levels they desire, choose from a number of presets, or use the large, interactive, on-screen “slider” that allows the user to look up at their lighting results – not down at their mobile device – while controlling the light levels with their thumb.
This mode features both an HSI (Hue/Saturation/Intensity) color picker, and an xy color picker in the CIE 1931 color space.
The HSI color picker provides users with a large, horizontal bar of hues and tints to choose from and it displays the Hue and Saturation levels of the color as you move your finger around the selection area. Once a color is selected, the user can select the Intensity as well as the base CCT before sending the color to a MIXBOOK or DMG Lighting fixture. Users can also input the Hue and Saturation values from myMIX into a control console to produce that color using any other color-mixing fixture.
The xy color picker provides a CIE gamut of colors to choose from and includes the plot points of the MIX LEDs as well as the resulting MIX color space. There are also Rec. 709 and Rec. 2020 overlay filters available for users that want to limit their color space to those popular HD video standards.
Lighting professionals often find inspiration from the world around them, and many will snap a photo of light and colors they’ve experienced for reference later. Inside Color Mode, users will find the unique Capture function of the myMIX app. Here they can take a photograph in the app, or select an existing image inside their photo library, and tap on a color in that photo. Then they can send that color to their MIXBOOK or DMG Lighting fixture. The app will also display that color’s Hue, Saturation and Intensity values for users to input into their control device for rendering in other color-mixing lights.
Once users have created their own colors – they can save them to their own library in the cloud. Folders can be created, enabling users to group the colors they have created by project, color palette, or any other grouping they desire. Users can then share their myMIX colors, or their myMIX color folders, with colleagues and teammates. When combined with a MIXBOOK, lighting professionals are able to design colors in one location, then send those colors to their crew that is setting up/programming the project in another location.
Many LED fixtures and control consoles come with a library of “gel colors” that rarely match a fixture with actual gel. The colors inside the myMIX Gel Mode represent the 130+ True Rosco Color™ gel matches that our MIXBOOK and DMG Lighting fixtures can create. These colors have been verified – by eye, by meter and by camera – to match traditional tungsten and daylight sources with Rosco gels on them.
The Effects Mode in myMIX offers four, preset effects that users can control & modify, including: Emergency Vehicle, Firelight, TV Screen and Paparazzi.
The Source Match Mode enables users to blend their DMG lights with other fixtures on set or on location. Sources include candlelight, moonlight, and industrial lamps such as Sodium Vapor, Xenon and Mercury Vapor. This mode also features presets for blue screen and green screen lighting.
