Controlling window brightness is easy with Rosco WindowCling filters. Available in three different neutral densities – and Rosco’s unique Day For Night formula – these ultra-thin filters quickly attach to windowpanes using static electricity to attenuate the amount of windowlight in a scene. Rosco WindowCling filters are also designed to layer on top of each other in order to achieve the needed brightness level as lighting conditions change outside.
Rosco WindowCling is available in 60” x 25’ (1.52 x 7.62M) rolls and it uses the power of static electricity to adhere to windowpanes. No more need for soapy water or flat, syrupy clear soda products that attract ants. You don’t even need to pre-cut to size before installation. Just clean & buff the windows – position the WindowCling onto the pane – and then use a matte-knife to cut the WindowCling to size. Because the thin WindowCling films are so lightweight, they will cling to windows for days and weeks if left undisturbed. And, because there isn’t any sort of adhesive, the WindowCling filters can be removed just as easily and re-rolled for future use on your next project.
WindowCling is available in three standard Neutral Densities – N.3, N.6 & N.9 – but it’s also available in D/N rolls that enable filmmakers to darken the windows to make it look like it’s night outside. This unique “Day For Night” formulation not only lowers the overall light level of the window by four stops – it also adds a tint of cyanish blue that mimics the coloration of moonlight. So, whether you need to make a mid-afternoon scene look like a midnight scene, or you need to turn the daylight streaking on set into moonlight – WindowGrip D/N is the filter you need for your next Day For Night location shoot.
Oftentimes, the brightness level of windowlight changes throughout the day, so filmmakers need a window control solution that they can use to adjust on the fly. In the past, stacking NDs has proven difficult because unwanted color shifts can happen as you add layers of ND. Rosco WindowCling filters have been engineered to cling and layer on top of each other – up to eight stops! This enables filmmakers to quickly and easily adjust their windowlight as the brightness levels change throughout the day. The standard ND filters can also be layered on top of the new D/N filter to darken the Day For Night effect.
