The Art Nouveau window was done with Crystal Gel.
First, we made a pounce with brown paper and pounced it onto a starched canvas. Then we markered all the lines in the design. Next, Crystal Gel was tinted with Supersat paint, Faux Creme Color (by Faux Effects) and food coloring. Colored Crystal Gel was applied with old hotel key cards to give a textured glass effect. Last, Crystal Gel tinted heavily with black Supersat paint was piped on with a baggie. (I think, however, that an actual cake froster with a tip would have been easier to control)

All Rosco paint, both Off Broadway and Super Saturated, were used in this production of The Tempest at Hartford Stage.

All surfaces received various base coats and sprays. We made a series of pounces using an electro-pounce (a god-send) and then spent days (and lot's of our overhire budget!) doing the script.

During our fall season at Oklahoma State University we staged a production of Noises Off. Required for the set was a stained glass bay window. To create the stained glass effect we used Rosco Crystal Gel as follows:

We used almost exclusively Rosco products for our production of The Drowsy Chaperone. Here, I am applying Clear Acrylic Gloss to a cabinet to add depth, after it had been base coated and lined with Off Broadway paints.

Saint Andrew's School's production of The Jungle Book. For this set we used a combination of Rosco Super Sat, off the shelf paints, Rosco flame retardants and Rosco Foam Coat. Expanding my students knowledge of scenic treatments, we needed a durable surface that would withstand constant abuse of the children actors climbing all over it. We built a rock structure for the Wolf Council's den covering textured homasote with foam coat to give it a tough shell while keeping the stony texture.

Saint Andrew's School's production of Seussical. With student involvement from the start I worked with them to explain the design process and worked them through each step of building and finishing a set. We used a combination of Rosco Super Sat as well as some boxed colors we had in stock and explained the importance of Rosco flamex and other fire retardant additives. Installed Whoville and camouflaged the railings to bring the world of Seuss to life on our stage.

ADAM AND EVE at California Institute of the Arts, 2010

The scenic designer wanted to have a treatment that resonated as being machine made. Sheets of paper put through a printing press or words that came out of a freshly inked typewriter. The main research was based off of a poster that shown Stalin in the center, covered by Russian text.

This was created for a production of Little Shop of Horrors. It was created out of PVC pipe, heated and bent to the mold. Then it was covered in chicken wire and fabric and finally painted with a variety of Rosco Colors.
